Wei Wuxian Prompt Fest - Pledge Edition

Dear WWX fans,

it is August 18th and we are live!

Join us in the 2024 Pledge Edition of our yearly WWX Fans Prompt Fest, now running in the third year.

We are coming together as a community of creators who plan to work on Wei Wuxian-centric fanworks in the period up to Wei Wuxian's birthday, and encourage and support one another in our endeavors.

How does it work?

• You go to Pledges Thread and announce your Wei Wuxian-centric project that you will be working on in the run-up to his birthday. This can be any media or sort of fanwork, not just fic or art. Podcasts, bookbinding, fannish recipes, the world's your oyster! Any and all ships, dynamics, adaptations welcome.
• You can start a new project, pledge to finish a WIP, or to complete the next chapter/the next stage of your project, it's all up to you. Works created for both this abnd other fan events are welcome, too. The only rule is that it has to be about Wei Wuxian.
• Posting at any point until October 31st is fine, we just ask you to complete your pledged goal by October 31st, Wei Wuxian's birthday. Once you are done, report your success here!

Why should you commit?

• Along with letting you share your initial pledge here, we will put up posts here and on social media where you can share your progress.
• We also have the hashtag #wwxbdaypledge so fellow creators can find your social media posts/tweets about your project.
• We are hoping for creators to encourage and support one another as they work on their various birthday gifts. We believe that having a specific goal to work towards to and fellow fans to work alongside can help with creativity.
• At the end of the event, we are going to create a spreadsheet collecting the links to your works (provided you agreed to be included in the wrap-up.)

• While we don't require you to create for someone else's prompt this year, you are still welcome to optionally pick a prompt from the Prompts Thread here.

This seems like a great idea and also something I can really use right now! XD

My pledge: Finishing at least one of my two current fic WIPs. One isn't far from being finished but I've been dithering around and really want to get at least one done. Two would be ideal, but I'm not sure I can get the inspiration for the second one rn as there's still a good chunk missing.

Both are Wangxian from WWX's PoV and also modern AUs.

I guess I don't mind being included in the spreadsheet. I haven't participated in something like this yet. XD

I DESPERATELY need to finish A Desperate Need for the Impossible which is wwx-centric chengxian monster smut. I am like!! TWO maybe just THREE chapters away from done and an Oct31 deadline sounds doable >> sweats profusely.

I'm hoping to either finish my wangxian romcom or complete a cute, one shot thought I had for wwx. Stretch goal is both!

I can pledge! I will finish one or more of these things:

1. The post-canon fic where WWX keeps visiting LXC getting helap with a project, but doesn't ever explain just what the project is. (This is also LXC-centric as it's from his POV, but I hope it counts!)

2. The next stop on the CR-era marriage AU, where WWX gets to take LWJ back to Lotus Pier and keep him.

3. My FTH winning bid, which is wangxian adventure casefic.

And sure, I can be on a list. :)

I have a new wwx centric case fic idea to pledge! Set post sunshot campaign with lots of angst and a golden core reveal, I'm just hoping it's a reasonable goal to finish it by the end of October 😔

• Terrible Things by Brick + Mortar (equal focus on Wei Wuxian and Anakin Skywalker, already a WIP)
  
• Already Over by Mike Shinoda (Wei Wuxian centric, not yet started)

I want to post at least one chapter for one of my Chengxian WIPs, either for Lingchi or for entrapped harmony. Preferably for both, since they have both gone neglected for far too long.

I already have a Lingchi chapter partially written. For entrapped harmony I first need to figure out where I want to take the story from the place I've been stuck on since last year.

As another stretch goal, I'd like to get preliminary worldbuilding research and outlining done for my very very vague MDZS/Warhammer fusion idea.

I have a fic I need to finish (that I started *cough*two years(!!)*cough* ago). It's Wangxian and modern AU.

Otherwise, I've been hankering to start a separate story set after the finale of The Untamed, mostly about WWX and interactions with JC going forward.

My pledge: finishing a yllz manga style artwork. It's supposed to incorporate the golden core transfer and ideally I want to fit jc in there with him.

I also wouldn't mind being included in the spreadsheet. Not sure how exactly everything works because this is my first time, but maybe the deadline will give me the motivation to finish it lmao.

I have a fic I’m looking to post on the weekend of 26/27 October. It’s a modern au in a university setting, where young adult wwx dips his toes into kink for the first time :,D i’m really excited about this one as some of the themes i’m exploring in this story are not things i’ve written about previously, and it’s safe to say that this fic is a deviation from my usual brand.

canon divergent. what if madam yu, pissed but vengeful and smart enough to get sth out of revenge, marries wwx off to nmj after the xuanwu cave incident? how will it affect the war now that he retains his core and becomes part of nie clan? how will love bloom between spouses with duty (mpreg possible...boypussy? omegaverse?) and war.

nmj agrees because he remembers what its like to be young, lost and not knowing where you stood and nhs will get better access to his bestie and wwx's talent means that nhs will be protected

16 year old wwx 20 something nmj (26??). they do consummate the marriage (dubcon, painful sex for wwx who bears it for duty, its only good for nmj) and they forget wwx can get knocked up and he does, during the war. He still aids war efforts but doesn't lose his core. Nmj falls in love faster because competence kink and wwx falls in lust first and then love because lets be honest, if he sees nmj covered in blood, surrounded by his enemies corpses baxia in hand, he'll totally climb him like a tree the minute all enemies were down and nmj will enthusiastically go for it because sex with wwx is marvelous! mostly a falling in love during the war amidst uncertainties sort of AU

Oh and wwx definitely calls him "A-Jue" because I am a sucker for this. What nmj calls him is up to you!

DNW's: nmj to have been in a past serious relationship, still having sex with someone else in the fic, children from other partners (aka wwx is the only real serious commitment), miscarriage and unhappy ending. If you put Jiang Clan in the fic, please ensure they either have bare-minimum interactions with wei wuxian, are operating in the background and have no plot-related things OR outright Jiang clan bashing. I dont want JC/WWX reconciliation, nor do I wanna see Jiang clan positively please.

what if lxc told wwx 'youre the only mistake my brother's ever made' after sunshot campaign? i was thinking the plot to go along the lines of wwx not getting wtf lxc means so he starts badgering him, sneaking to gusu to find lxc and being a menace trying to get him to spill the beans. lxc keeps refusing and is very scathing in a diplomatic way but then finally, around lxc wwx starts relaxing and feeling like he shouldnt put up a facade because lxc dislikes him for some reason anyway but he's an honourable man who would neither kill him and hasnt tried 'imprisoning' him in gusu the way lwj has been trying to (lmao) and a lot of his antics return to cloud recesses arc wwx-like. he's annoying, pranks, breaks rules, absolutely doesnt respect a fucking sect leader's privacy and boundaries but lxc starts liking it.

wwx pesters and annoys him but he also cares because he mother hens over him when he overworks, makes fun of his sleep schedule, almost kills him with his spicy ood and keeps trying to get him to unwind by breaking rules. its too late when lxc realizes he's so fucked and randomly tells lwj that he now understands why he's been in love with wwx...he's very easy to love.

ultimately heartbroken lwj comes to the conclusion that he would never be able to keep wwx and his sect's reputation safe at the same time and begrudgingly gives lxc his blessing to court wwx. idk what love confession and more domestic fluff later wwx gets proposed and marries lxc and despite still having some feelings for lwj, he ends up falling in love with lxc and finds himself content to be...the more flexible part of the lan clan (lxc and lwj both allow...who tf can stop wwx from running around and pranking the disciples now??)...lxc/wwx hea with a dash of wangxian mututal pining but it becoming nothing...
